Josh McLaughlin and Emily Ernst
Josh & Emily started swing dancing about nine years ago. As a couple, they’ve been dancing for almost four years. They are co-owners of a company called Syncopated Rhythms. Their group of four dancers holds monthly workshops for the local scene. They DJ and teach regularly at various venues. They’ve been traveling quite a bit lately to compete, teach and DJ.
They have taught at Bal Rendesvouz, the Portland Lindy Exchange, Portland Fusion Exchange, Portland Parks and recreation, Come Raine, Come Shine, Portland Waterfront Blues Festival, and Oregon Dance Fair. In competitions they placed first in Oregon Dance Fair’s Lindy Competition 2007, and the Jack and Jill at Seattle Balboa Festival 2009.
Dale and Peggy Bates
With over 25 years of teaching social dancing and dancing together for 12 years DancZenSV instructors Dale & Peggy Bates know how to spread the Joy of Dancing Together. Following his passion for dancing, Dale learned how to dance the traditional way…by going to great dance clubs and learning from watching and dancing with great dancers. He brings his experience from Austrian tea bars, Indian discos, L.A. Cuban Clubs, N.Y. Mambo Clubs, and most of all from Chicago South Side Blues venues. Peggy uses her 30 years of yoga practice and a great ear for rhythm and music to interpret dances in her own unique way.
Focusing on social dancing rather than competition & performance, they teach the natural way to dance to any music anywhere. Their line dancing classes give everyone the opportunity to learn new dance moves and patterns to a variety of music without a partner. Dale & Peggy live in Ketchum, ID and teach at Studio Move.
